An illegal alien, previously deported twice, faces federal charges after allegedly flying a drone in restricted airspace near the 2026 FIFA Fan Festival in Atlanta, Georgia. Lorenzo Rojas-Martinez, a Mexican national, was charged with operating a drone in a temporary flight restricted zone and illegal re-entry following an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
FBI agents confronted Rojas-Martinez on June 12, 2026, near Centennial Olympic Park after he operated a drone. Upon confirming his illegal status, agents took him into custody and transferred him to ICE the following day. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia announced the charges on June 15.
Rojas-Martinez has a significant criminal history, including prior convictions for drug trafficking, stolen property, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and two counts of fraud, along with an arrest for driving under the influence. He claimed to have first entered the U.S. illegally in 1999, was deported in 2013, illegally re-entered, and was deported a second time in 2019.
