A federal jury in Indianapolis has convicted Laurens Jean-Francois, 23, of Haiti, on multiple charges including two counts of interference with commerce by robbery, two counts of brandishing a firearm during a violent crime, and possession of a firearm by an illegal alien. The verdict was delivered on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
Court documents and trial evidence showed Jean-Francois committed two armed robberies in Indianapolis in July 2025. On July 19, he approached a Domino’s Pizza delivery driver at Scarborough Lake Apartments, brandishing a .556 caliber AR-15 pistol. He demanded the driver’s wallet, cell phone, and food order before telling him to flee. Surveillance cameras captured the incident.
Three days later, on July 22, Jean-Francois, wearing a ski mask, robbed the Xpress Pantry on North High School Road. He used the same AR-15 pistol to demand cash from the register. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers arrested him on July 29, 2025, during a traffic stop, finding the AR-15 in plain view and the ski mask he wore.
Further investigation revealed Jean-Francois was unlawfully present in the United States, as his green card had expired in August 2024. The FBI Indianapolis Field Office and IMPD investigated the case. U.S. District Judge Richard L. Young will sentence Jean-Francois at a later date.
