The Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have announced a multi-year partnership to enhance fan engagement and introduce advanced analytics to the league.
AWS will serve as the Official Cloud and Cloud AI Partner of the WNBA, marking its first partnership with a women’s professional sports league. The collaboration centers on the launch of WNBA Inside the Game powered by AWS, a new statistics platform designed to turn real-time player tracking data into accessible insights. This platform will be available across the WNBA App, the league's website, and during live game broadcasts.
The partnership will introduce new artificial intelligence-powered metrics to highlight previously uncaptured aspects of women's basketball. Throughout the season, the league and AWS will roll out WNBA Gravity to show how players impact defenses, followed by WNBA Shot Difficulty.
“We view this partnership as integral to the next phase of growth for the WNBA,” said WNBA Chief Growth Officer Colie Edison. AWS Global Director of Strategic Partnerships Kristin Shaff added, “Through WNBA Inside the Game, we're bringing AI-powered analytics to the women's game, giving fans new ways to appreciate the skill and strategy WNBA players bring to the court every game. This is just the first chapter of what we're building together, and we couldn't be more excited to get started.”
AWS will also act as the Presenting Partner of WNBA Live, a fan festival taking place July 24 to 25 at McCormick Place during the AT&T WNBA All-Star 2026 in Chicago. Additionally, AWS joins the WNBA Changemakers Collective, a group of companies working to empower players and drive business transformation. As the WNBA enters its 30th season in 2026, the league aims to use this partnership to elevate the player experience, increase investment, and grow women’s basketball globally.
