U.S. Department of War Identifies Soldier Believed Killed in Jordan Attack

The U.S. Department of War has identified Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad, 28, of Ozone Park, New York, as the active-duty Soldier believed to have been killed in action on July 17, 2026. Sgt. Rampersad was supporting overseas operations in Jordan when he was believed to have died during an enemy attack at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base.

Sgt. Rampersad was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 52nd Air Defense Artillery Brigade, 10th Army Air & Missile Defense Command, based in Ansbach, Germany. U.S. Central Command had previously announced the Soldier as missing, with his status later updated to Duty Status–Whereabouts Unknown before being believed deceased.

The incident that led to Sgt. Rampersad's believed death is currently under investigation.
