Scott Allen Bolger, a McLean resident, was sentenced today to a year and three months in prison for transmitting threats in interstate commerce, targeting both a public official and a second victim.

On December 23, 2025, Bolger, 33, used Google Voice to send a threatening message to a public official, stating he would “put a bullet in the official’s head.” Prior to sending the threat, Bolger had researched the official’s personal phone number and made contact with him.

When federal investigators arrived at his residence, Bolger falsely identified himself as Brian Black and denied knowing anyone named Scott Bolger. During his plea, he also admitted to harassing a second victim (Victim-2) since at least October 2022, using multiple fictitious accounts on X and Proton Mail to send private indecent images and create public profiles featuring them.

The FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force Washington Field Office investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jacob Mercer and Russell L. Carlberg prosecuted the case.
