The Social Security Administration updated its program policy instructions on September 28, 2026, issuing a new Program Operations Manual System section on Supplemental Security Income alien eligibility.

The new section, SI 00502 TN 74, incorporates existing policy from EM-24024 SEN REV, which will be archived. It covers the SSI eligibility of aliens lawfully residing in the United States under the Compacts of Free Association between the United States and the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau.

The agency also encouraged the public to go digital and create a personal my Social Security account to access benefits information.
