American Airlines has been selected to anchor the new West Terminal at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, the airport's first new terminal in nearly 40 years.

According to the airline, the terminal will create the capacity, amenities and infrastructure needed to transform the customer experience and support Phoenix's continued growth as a global gateway.

The announcement was among several updates in American's latest news recap. At Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), 10 new gates are on the way, with the new, modern Terminal A pier expansion opening soon. Derrick Proffitt, American's Managing Director of Customer Care at DFW, discusses the project in the latest episode of Forever Forward at DFW.

American also announced it has been named the first-ever Official Airline Partner of Inter Miami CF. The airline said the partnership takes fan experiences to new heights, creating new ways for supporters worldwide to connect with the club.

In other news, American and July unveiled a heritage-inspired luggage collaboration, available for purchase exclusively on July's website and featuring two design options.

The airline also highlighted its charitable work, with this year's Wish Flight bringing 14 children battling critical illnesses and their families to Walt Disney World Resort.

Looking ahead, American said seasonal lounge menu enhancements for fall will showcase hearty ingredients, regionally inspired flavors and elevated dining experiences before takeoff.
