Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass today announced she is pursuing litigation and other legal options against Lineage and Chill Build, accusing the companies of repeatedly failing to address significant food waste issues impacting the Boyle Heights and East LA communities.
Mayor Bass said, "At every turn, Lineage has failed to meet its responsibility to this community and to provide meaningful support to residents and small businesses." She noted city personnel found food waste still present during an inspection, despite the companies missing an August 14 cleanup deadline. "Lineage and Chill Build do not deserve to rebuild," Bass added.
The Mayor emphasized her commitment to the affected families, stating, "I will continue doing everything in my authority to demand the answers and accountability this community deserves." The City has provided extensive support, including temporary housing for over 1,300 people, mobile health clinics, air purifiers, food, financial aid, and utility assistance.
