The U.S. Department of the Treasury and the United States Mint have announced the launch of a commemorative coin program for the FIFA World Cup 2026, with all surcharge proceeds dedicated to youth soccer programs benefiting military families. This initiative is highlighted as a significant victory for the Trump Administration and military families nationwide.
Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent said, "The FIFA World Cup 2026 coin program reflects President Trump’s unwavering commitment to the brave men and women of our military, and the families that serve alongside them." He added that every surcharge dollar will directly support youth soccer initiatives for service members' children, fostering character, resilience, and community. Treasurer Brandon Beach expressed pride in the U.S. Mint's work, stating the coins would benefit children of uniformed personnel and celebrate American pride during the nation's 250th birthday.
Andrew Giuliani, Executive Director of the White House FIFA Task Force, said the program reflects President Trump's bold vision and Secretary Bessent's leadership, ensuring military families are honored on the world stage. Under a pivotal Trump-era agreement, FIFA has pledged 100% of the surcharges—$35 for gold, $10 for silver, and $5 for clad coins—to military family youth soccer initiatives, channeling funds directly to service members' children.
Authorized by the FIFA World Cup 2026 Commemorative Coin Act (Public Law 118-143), the Mint will produce $5 gold, $1 silver, and half-dollar clad coins at no taxpayer cost. Maximum mintages are set at 100,000 for gold, 500,000 for silver, and 750,000 for clad half-dollars. Pre-orders will begin soon, with initial shipments starting before the end of the games, and sales continuing throughout the calendar year. Available in proof and uncirculated versions, with bulk/prepaid discounts applying.
