Fairfax County has announced the recipients of the 2026 James M. Scott Exceptional Design Awards, recognizing outstanding projects that demonstrate excellence in architecture, planning and environmental design.
This year's honorees include innovative workplaces, thoughtfully renovated residences and impactful community and mixed-use facilities, the county said.
Together, the award-winning projects showcase how high-quality design can enhance wellness, sustainability and the public realm across Fairfax County and the region.
The county also highlighted several upcoming items in its Sept. 24 NewsCenter Daily Update. Adapted golf returns to Burke Lake, and a public meeting on the Oakton congestion and safety study is set for Oct. 5.
Affordable housing residents will be featured at a HUD conference, and the county is promoting Medicare open enrollment workshops, the artoberVA arts celebration in October, and library events on engineering and vintage typewriters.
Residents are also invited to knit or crochet hats for local nonprofits, with yarn available at county library branches while supplies last and donations due by Oct. 31.
