The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today unveiled its Horizon 25 Strategy, a new vision launched by Administrator David P. Cummins as the agency nears its 25th anniversary. This strategy aims to modernize TSA checkpoints, enhance the traveler experience, and strengthen multi-modal transportation security for the coming quarter-century.
Administrator Cummins emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, "President Trump and Secretary Mullin have entrusted me with the task of modernizing TSA." He added, "As we look forward to the next 25 years, we must constantly work to stay ahead of evolving threats and deliver a Golden Age of Travel." The strategy seeks to build an agile, resilient TSA ready for future challenges.
Key initiatives under Horizon 25 include enhancing TSA PreCheck®, improving passenger experience, streamlining new technology acquisition, and expanding capabilities against unmanned aircraft systems. The strategy also promotes public-private partnerships, replacing TSA Gold+ with an evolved Screening Partnership Program to leverage the private sector in creating a safer and more efficient aviation system.
Cummins affirmed, "TSA does not have to choose between a secure checkpoint, an efficient checkpoint, and an elevated passenger experience. Through Horizon 25, TSA can, and will, deliver all three at once." His background in private sector transportation, with a focus on innovation, informs this forward-thinking approach.
