Robert Spriggs, 38, of the District of Columbia, was sentenced today to 30 months in prison for his involvement in a conspiracy to distribute marijuana and for unlawfully possessing multiple firearms. U.S. District Judge Dabney L. Friedrich also ordered Spriggs to serve three years of supervised release, following his guilty plea on March 3, 2026. Federal prosecutors had sought a 50-month term.
Court documents reveal that from October 2023 to May 2024, Spriggs and co-conspirators traveled between the Baltimore-Washington area and Los Angeles to acquire marijuana for distribution. In February 2024, law enforcement intercepted Spriggs at BWI Airport, finding 54.5 pounds of vacuum-sealed marijuana in his luggage. The group operated from an apartment on C Street SE, known as the “Spot,” where daily hand-to-hand drug transactions were observed. Text messages showed Spriggs coordinating sales, noting he earned significantly more as “Spot Manager.”
On October 30, 2024, a search warrant at Spriggs’s residence on 49th Street SE uncovered an AK-style rifle, a Springfield XD pistol, and a Kahr .45-caliber pistol, along with magazines and ammunition. Spriggs admitted to possessing these firearms. The investigation was a joint effort by the FBI Washington Field Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration – Washington Division Office.
