Daemien Thompson, 40, of Oak Hill, West Virginia, has been sentenced to 12 years and 11 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for his role in a conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.
According to court documents, Thompson admitted to conspiring with others to obtain and distribute methamphetamine in the Southern District of West Virginia between November 27, 2022, and December 6, 2023. The conspiracy involved the distribution of more than 3.5 pounds of 100 percent pure methamphetamine, including a transaction on November 27, 2022, where Thompson and a co-conspirator sold 446 grams for $2,600. Further controlled buys of high-purity methamphetamine, totaling approximately 2.59 pounds, occurred on December 5, 2022, December 14, 2022, and February 2, 2023, at various locations, including an Oak Hill trailer park.
Thompson was one of four individuals indicted in the drug trafficking conspiracy, all of whom pleaded guilty. Co-conspirators Phillip Gray received 10 years, Leondus Whittenburg received seven years and 11 months, and John Gray received three years and one month. Thompson's criminal history includes prior convictions for third-degree sexual assault, delivery of a controlled substance, and unlawful assault.
United States Attorney Moore Capito said, “This successful prosecution disrupted a ruinous drug trafficking conspiracy and secured convictions and prison terms for all four defendants indicted.” Capito commended the investigative efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the West Virginia State Police – Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI), and the Central Regional Drug and Violent Crime Task Force.
