NOAA Forecasts Moderate-Strong Solar X-ray Events

The NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center has issued an outlook forecasting a chance for R1 (Minor) and a slight chance for R2-R3 (Moderate-Strong) solar x-ray events between July 27 and August 2. No other significant solar events are anticipated during this period.

This follows a week of minor space weather activity from July 20-26, which included R1 (Minor) solar x-ray events observed on July 20, 21, 22, and 26. Additionally, G1 (Minor) solar geomagnetic events occurred on July 23.

The Space Weather Advisory Outlook #26-29, issued from Boulder, Colorado, indicates that while minor x-ray events are likely, the possibility of more significant moderate-strong events exists.
