Fairfax County Police Department's Road Shark traffic safety campaign, Wave 3, concluded on August 16, marking its largest enforcement effort of 2026. Partnering with Virginia State Police (VSP), the high-visibility initiative targeted speeding, reckless driving, and distracted driving to enhance roadway safety in Fairfax County.
Between August 10 and August 16, officers issued a total of 16,235 citations and warnings, comprising 6,162 citations and 10,073 warnings. These significant figures underscore the ongoing importance of traffic safety and driver accountability throughout the county.
The Road Shark campaign employs coordinated, strategic enforcement and increased patrols by FCPD officers and VSP troopers to deter dangerous driving behaviors. This effort aims to improve public safety and protect lives on the roads, reflecting the Department's commitment to crash reduction. Wave 4 of the Road Shark campaign is scheduled to begin on October 12.
