Governor Gavin Newsom today announced several key appointments and reappointments to significant state positions, including a new State Chief Information Security Officer and members of the California State Coastal Conservancy and the Commission on the Status of Women and Girls.
Mike Marshall, of Sacramento, has been appointed State Chief Information Security Officer at the California Department of Technology. Marshall previously served as Acting Information Officer and Agency Information Security Officer at the California Environmental Protection Agency, and held various roles at the California Public Employees’ Retirement System. This position, which does not require Senate confirmation, carries a compensation of $210,792.
William Shafroth, of Santa Barbara, joins the California State Coastal Conservancy. Shafroth brings extensive experience from his tenure as President and Chief Executive Officer at the National Park Foundation and multiple positions at the Department of the Interior. He also founded Red Sheep Consulting LLC and served as Assistant Secretary for Land and Coastal Resources at the California Resources Agency. His compensation is $100 per diem, and the role does not require Senate confirmation.
Additionally, Governor Newsom reappointed three individuals to the Commission on the Status of Women and Girls. Rita Gallardo Good, of Long Beach, who has served since 2023, is President and Chief Connector at Buena Consulting and previously held leadership roles at Campaign for College Opportunity and California State University, Sacramento. Nisha Devi Rodrigo, of San Francisco, reappointed since 2024, is Director of California Wellness at the Office of the First Partner of California and an Eastern Medicine Practitioner. Joelle Gomez, of Stockton, reappointed since 2022, is Chief Executive Officer at Children’s Home of Stockton. These reappointments require Senate confirmation and offer a compensation of $100 per diem.
