Twice-Convicted Sex Offender Charged with Child Pornography Distribution in D.C.

Jason Robert Birk, a 50-year-old resident of the District of Columbia and a twice-convicted sex offender, has been charged with distribution of child pornography. The complaint was unsealed this week in U.S. District Court, as announced by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.

Court documents reveal that on June 23, 2026, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Birk’s residence, recovering his cell phone and laptop. A review of the phone showed Birk distributed videos depicting the sexual abuse of children by adult males, as well as sexual acts between animals and adult males. Specifically, on April 26, 2026, Birk distributed two videos showing the violent sexual abuse of a toddler by an adult male.

Birk has two prior convictions for sex offenses, including a 2019 conviction for distributing child pornography. This case is being investigated by the FBI’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Janani Iyengar, as part of the Department of Justice's Project Safe Childhood initiative.

FBI Assistant Director in Charge Darren B. Cox of the Washington Field Office joined U.S. Attorney Pirro in the announcement. Charges in a complaint are merely allegations, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
