U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has re-arrested Hamed Mohammed Hamed Alsaidi, an illegal alien from Jordan, in Illinois after local sanctuary officials in Will County released him despite an ICE detainer. Alsaidi was initially arrested for possessing eight Molotov cocktails and obstructing identification.
Police in Mokena, Illinois, first encountered Alsaidi on August 1, after he displayed suspicious behavior at a closed gas station and was later seen walking in traffic lanes. Upon his arrest, officers discovered eight Molotov cocktails in his possession and learned his true identity after he initially provided an alias. He now faces felony charges for unlawful possession of a weapon and obstructing identification, and has a prior arrest for domestic battery.
ICE lodged a detainer with Will County on the same day Alsaidi was arrested. However, Will County Judge Theodore Jarz granted Alsaidi pretrial release on August 2, and local officials released him without notifying ICE. A DHS Spokesperson said, "This criminal illegal alien was arrested after he was found to have EIGHT Molotov cocktails in his possession and gave a false name to officers. Even though ICE lodged a detainer, sanctuary politicians in Will County, Illinois refused to honor it and released him without notifying ICE." The spokesperson added that "Governor J.B. Pritzker and his fellow sanctuary politicians need to stop putting American lives at risk with their reckless, America Last policies."
Alsaidi illegally entered the United States through California in March 2024 and was subsequently released into the country by the Biden Administration. The DHS statement also highlighted other alleged crimes by illegal aliens in Illinois, including cases of kidnapping, sexual assault, murder, and a former teacher involved in a mass shooting.
