The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has urged American technology companies to prevent their artificial intelligence models from relying on propaganda allegedly posted online by a firm linked to the Israeli government. CAIR claims this operation aims to manipulate AI platforms with “genocidal denial and anti-Palestinian bias.”
Drop Site News reported that former Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale is allegedly overseeing an operation through his firm, Clock Tower X, which regularly posts hundreds of propaganda blog posts on behalf of Israel. These posts, part of a $46.5 million contract with the Israeli government, are reportedly designed to influence AI-powered chatbots like Claude and ChatGPT, rather than being read directly by the public.
Edward Ahmed Mitchell, CAIR Deputy Executive Director, said, “We call on all technology companies to prevent their artificial intelligence models from being manipulated by Clock Tower X's reported propaganda campaign. Mr. Parscale, a registered foreign agent of Israel, is allegedly working to sabotage Americans’ sources of information by manipulating AI training. This is unacceptable and dangerous. It is also telling that the Israeli government and its agents have been forced to resort to such measures to try to manipulate public opinion. The American people have seen clearly that the Israeli government is guilty of engaging in genocide and other human rights abuses with American taxpayer dollars. Tech companies cannot allow themselves to be instrumentalized to lie about the Gaza genocide and launder Israel's reputation.”
In related actions, CAIR also called on a Tennessee state lawmaker, who advocated for banning Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism, to visit mosques and temples. The organization welcomed a Department of Justice probe into Oklahoma City’s denial of rezoning for a proposed mosque, emphasizing that religious freedom protections apply equally to all faith communities.
Additionally, CAIR condemned an Israeli bombing of a mosque and tents sheltering displaced families in Gaza, with National Executive Director Nihad Awad stating that such locations must never be targets. CAIR-Minnesota alerted its community to two recent break-ins at the Al-Hikmah Islamic Center in Minneapolis, and CAIR-Philadelphia welcomed the arrest of a suspect for racist, anti-Muslim threats targeting Sheriff Siddiq Kamara.
