Governor Gavin Newsom today announced a series of key appointments to the California Housing and Homelessness Agency, reinforcing the state's efforts to address critical housing and homelessness challenges. The appointments include a new Secretary and several Deputy Secretaries, bringing experienced leaders to crucial roles.
Tomiquia Moss, of Oakland, has been appointed Secretary at the California Housing and Homelessness Agency. Moss previously served as Secretary at the Business, Consumer Services, and Housing Agency since 2024 and was the Founder and CEO of All Home. Her appointment requires Senate confirmation and comes with a compensation of $254,450.
Further strengthening the agency, Sasha Kergan was named Undersecretary, M. Dhakshike Wickrema as Deputy Secretary of Homelessness, Christina Mun as Deputy Secretary of Housing Finance, Erica Gonzalez as Deputy Secretary of Civil Rights and Strategic Initiatives, Kaitlin Talbot as Deputy Secretary of Communications, and Anastasia Carney as Deputy Secretary of External Affairs. These individuals bring extensive backgrounds in housing, community development, and public policy from various state and local government roles.
Additional appointments include Vishesh Anand as Senior Advisor and Patricia “Patti” Ochoa as Special Assistant to the Secretary at the California Housing and Homelessness Agency. Jennifer Hanson and Kevin Hefner were appointed Deputy Director of Communications and Assistant Director of External Affairs, respectively, at the California Department of Housing and Community Development. Angela Kim will serve as General Counsel at the Housing Development and Finance Committee, and Dave Rand was appointed to the California Housing Finance Agency Board of Directors, a position requiring Senate confirmation.
