The Heritage Foundation is intensifying its calls for accountability regarding the origins of COVID-19, the competency of President Joe Biden, and the direction of U.S. foreign aid and constitutional rights. These demands follow recent developments, including a Senate hearing on the pandemic's origins and the release of new tapes related to President Biden.
Robert Redfield, former director of the Centers for Disease Control and a Heritage senior visiting fellow, commented on Dr. Anthony Fauci’s private diary, saying, "When you read the diary, you can see that they had a pretty good understanding that it came from the lab… The greatest pandemic we had in 100 years, killed over 20 million people worldwide, it didn’t come from nature. It came from science." Heritage President Dr. Kevin Roberts added that it is important to see Fauci, "as the avatar for this entire public health industrial complex—coming crashing down. Why? Because of the will of the people."
Separately, the Oversight Project released "Biden Tapes," which Mike Howell, president of the project and a Heritage visiting fellow, claims show "a lack of competency in several areas from Joe Biden at that moment…it’s our contention that they [his inner circle] knew he wasn’t capable of doing the job."
The foundation also criticized the State Department's funding of the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), with Senior Research Fellow Max Primorac writing that "The infusion of billions of dollars of unconditioned U.S. foreign aid into the U.N. universe and its radical networks is a major funding boost to global radical left-wing causes." Additionally, Heritage Executive Vice President Derrick Morgan emphasized the importance of the Second Amendment, stating, "This is the right that preserves all the others: the one that makes the rest of the Bill of Rights more than mere words. A disarmed citizenry is one whose other freedoms rest on borrowed time."
