A former police officer from Phoenix, Illinois, Antoine Larry, has been sentenced to five years and three months in federal prison for corruption charges, including conspiracy, extortion, and attempted extortion. Larry, 50, of Bolingbrook, was convicted by a jury earlier this year for conspiring with another officer to steal cash and drugs from motorists during traffic stops.
The scheme involved Larry and his partner targeting drivers at risk of detention or vehicle towing, soliciting bribes in exchange for reduced charges or avoiding citations. They then falsified police reports to hide their illicit activities, which occurred between at least 2020 and 2022.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Ramon Villalpando argued in the government’s sentencing memorandum that "Antoine Larry was a police officer, sworn to uphold the law, who instead brazenly abused his power." Larry's co-conspirator, Jarrett Snowden of Lansing, Illinois, pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge and is scheduled for sentencing on October 27, 2026.
