New Haven, CT – Terrence Davis, 41, of New Haven, pleaded guilty today before U.S. District Judge Sarah F. Russell to a narcotics trafficking offense involving fentanyl and cocaine. The plea follows an investigation into his activities operating from a Branford hotel room.
According to court documents, members of the FBI’s Safe Streets Gang Task Force gathered evidence that Davis was selling fentanyl and crack cocaine. Investigators conducted a controlled purchase on October 15, 2025. Two days later, a court-authorized search of Davis’s hotel room uncovered nearly 700 grams of cocaine, over 70 grams of fentanyl, drug packaging materials, and $13,867 in cash. Davis was initially arrested on state charges and later released on bond.
The case was adopted for federal prosecution, leading to Davis's indictment on January 7, 2026. Upon his federal arrest the following day, a search of the same hotel room yielded approximately 60 grams of fentanyl, 25 grams of crack cocaine, and seven grams of powder cocaine. Davis pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl and 500 grams or more of cocaine, an offense carrying a mandatory minimum of five years and a maximum of 40 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for September 30.
This investigation was a collaborative effort by the FBI’s Safe Streets Gang Task Force, the New Haven Police Department, and the Connecticut State Police. The prosecution is part of the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) initiative, which focuses on eliminating criminal cartels and transnational criminal organizations.
