The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) will host a public information session on June 9 to discuss the 2025 safety performance of the Callaway Energy Center. The NRC concluded that the one-unit plant, operated by Union Electric Company near Jefferson City, Missouri, operated safely throughout 2025, with all inspection findings and performance indicators showing very low safety significance.

As a result of its assessment, the Callaway plant remains under the agency’s normal level of oversight, which includes thousands of hours of inspections annually. The information session will take place during the Fulton City Council meeting at 6:30 p.m. Central time at Fulton City Hall, located at 18 E. 4th Street, Fulton, Missouri.

NRC staff, including the full-time resident inspector assigned to the site, will be present to explain the agency's plant safety assessment methods and answer public questions regarding plant oversight. The NRC evaluates plant performance using a color-coded system that tracks inspection findings and performance indicators. The annual assessment letter for Callaway, along with upcoming inspection plans, is available on the NRC website.
