Floyd Clown, Jr., an Eagle Butte, South Dakota man, has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for Abusive Sexual Contact following an incident in Dupree, South Dakota. U.S. District Judge Eric C. Schulte handed down the sentence on May 11, 2026, as announced by United States Attorney Ron Parsons.

Clown, 41, will also serve 10 years of supervised release and pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. He was indicted by a federal grand jury in September 2025 and pleaded guilty to the charge on February 6, 2026.

The conviction stems from a March 11, 2025, incident on the Cheyenne River Sioux Indian Reservation where Clown forced a woman to have sexual contact after she refused his advances. The U.S. Attorney’s Office prosecuted the case under the Major Crimes Act, which mandates federal court jurisdiction for certain violent crimes in Indian country.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI and the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. Assistant U.S. Attorney Wayne Venhuizen prosecuted the case, and Clown was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
