Fairfax County's Office of the Fire Marshal has issued a reminder to property owners regarding the mandatory inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) records for all fire protection systems, which must be uploaded to the Planning and Land Use System (PLUS) portal. This directive ensures compliance with the Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code (SFPC) and the Fire Prevention Code of the County of Fairfax (FPCCF).
In accordance with Section 901.6.1 of these codes, fire protection systems must undergo ITM as outlined in applicable referenced standards. Property owners are required to submit complete records of these inspections, tests, and their results to the PLUS portal following their completion.
Beyond annual inspections covering all systems and components, specific parts also require inspections and tests at three, five, and twelve-year intervals. These periodic reports must be submitted alongside the annual documentation. Failure to comply with ITM requirements, submit reports, or resolve deficiencies in a timely manner will result in inspection fees.
