Dartmouth College's Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies has welcomed its newest class, arriving alongside a new dean and a new PhD program.
The school is beginning the academic year with 200 new graduate students, according to the college.
The incoming class coincides with leadership and program changes at Guarini, which has a new dean and has added a new PhD program.
In other Dartmouth news, the college's libraries have acquired a manuscript from the early 1300s.
Separately, Professor of International Economics Emily Blanchard has co-authored an essay calling for more analysis and discipline before countries impose tariffs or other trade measures, given the impact on global value chains. The essay is titled "Unintended Consequences: Trade Intervention in a World of Global Value Chains."
The college also highlighted a quotation in its Freedom Frequency feature: "Society treats physical and intellectual training as though they obey different laws—as though the mind, unlike the body, might get strong without being made to struggle."
