U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged a detainer with Miami-Dade County officials for William Serrano Domenech, a criminal illegal alien from Cuba, who is charged with second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Raul Aballe.
The incident occurred on August 17 in northwest Miami-Dade, where Serrano Domenech allegedly shot 42-year-old Aballe in the stomach after an argument, leading to Aballe's death at a local hospital. Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Serrano Domenech the following day, August 18, and he reportedly admitted to the shooting, citing jealousy over Aballe’s relationship with a witness.
Serrano Domenech now faces charges of second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His extensive criminal history includes convictions for drug trafficking and illegal firearm possession in Michigan and Florida, along with arrests for aggravated assault, theft, and resisting arrest across Florida, New Mexico, and Tennessee. He was issued a final order of removal by a Department of Justice Immigration Judge in 2002.
DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin said, "This dangerous criminal should have never been in our country, and had it not been for the Biden Administration releasing him from ICE custody in 2023, Raul Aballe would still be alive." Mullin added that ICE will collaborate with Florida partners to ensure Serrano Domenech is never again released onto the streets.
