Penguin Random House is reporting that it is offering significant ebook discounts on a selection of thrillers and mysteries. It said the promotions include "Look In the Mirror" by Catherine Steadman, described by Chris Whitaker as a "sinister, stylish, and shocking" mystery, now available for $2.99, down from $13.99. The publisher also features Danielle Trussoni's "The Puzzle Box," an "escapist puzzle box of delights" with a "neurodivergent hero" and an "unsolvable mystery," discounted to $2.99 from $5.99. Leila Slimani's "The Perfect Nanny," translated by Sam Taylor, which The New York Times called a "tough book about a grim subject" with an "unforgettable opening sentence: ‘The baby is dead,’" is also $2.99, reduced from $12.99. Other discounted titles include Iris Yamashita's "City Under One Roof," a "clever thriller" likened to "Northern Exposure meets Dexter" by Lisa Gardner, and Lee Child's "Reacher: Killing Floor (Movie Tie-In)," which Stephen King praised as a "ripping yarn." Both are available for $2.99. Stacey Abrams, writing as Selena Montgomery, has her romance-thriller "Rules of Engagement" on sale for $2.99, as is Kia Abdullah's "Perfectly Nice Neighbors," a "rollercoaster ride of a toxic tale of neighbors from hell." The publisher noted these discounted prices are for a limited time and subject to change.
