The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported the seismic event occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers. Its epicenter was located at 41.896N, 126.253W, approximately 159.5 kilometers west-southwest of Pistol River, Oregon.
The earthquake was also situated about 208.5 kilometers west-northwest of McKinleyville, California, and 212.9 kilometers northwest of Eureka, California. This preliminary report has been reviewed by a seismologist.
