The latest Joint USAF/NOAA report indicates low solar activity with four sunspot regions currently visible, alongside quiet to minor storm levels in the geomagnetic field over the past 24 hours.
Solar activity is predicted to remain low for the next three days, from August 19 to August 21, with a 35% chance of M-class flares each day. The geomagnetic field is expected to be quiet to minor storm levels on August 19, transitioning to quiet to active levels on August 20 and 21.
Recent observations showed solar wind speed peaking at 578 km/s and electrons greater than 2 MeV reaching 349 pfu at geosynchronous orbit. Probabilities for major-severe geomagnetic storms at high latitudes are 55% on August 19, decreasing to 40% and 35% on subsequent days.
