New Jersey Governor Sherrill said the latest jobs report shows "Donald Trump's economy is a bust," with New Jersey families paying the price.
In a statement released Friday, Sherrill said jobs growth for working families has fallen by almost 80% since Trump took office, while wage growth is now negative. She also said the president and his family are making billions from crypto and foreign governments.
Sherrill said Trump's policies are costing New Jerseyans an extra $4,000 from what she called illegal tariffs, another $4,000 on their mortgages, and $1,500 at the gas pump each year.
"I'm charting a different path forward for New Jerseyans - one that is laser focused on economic opportunity and affordability," Sherrill said.
She pointed to her administration's efforts to cut permitting red tape, including reducing the Department of Environmental Protection's most complex permit backlog by 74 percent and eliminating the Department of Transportation's largest permit backlog completely. Sherrill said she has also taken action that will save families $1 billion a year on their energy bills.
"Because in New Jersey, we are committed to delivering for working families," she said.
