Fairfax County's Land Development Services has streamlined its building plan review process, allowing residents to fast-track simple residential permits in as little as one business day.
The new Fast Track review applies to a variety of common home improvement projects. Eligible construction includes decks, finished basements, small one-story additions, swimming pools, and solar panels. Residents can also expedite permits for minor interior updates, small garages, and retaining walls under four feet.
In other county news, the Fairfax County Police Department's False Alarm Reduction Unit has successfully decreased unnecessary emergency calls. This initiative has saved thousands of officer hours, allowing law enforcement to focus on more critical community needs.
Additionally, the county is promoting hurricane season preparation and hosting open hire events throughout May. Residents can also purchase discounted Water Mine season passes through May 25 or attend upcoming community events at local regional libraries.
