Google I/O 2026 unveiled significant advancements in artificial intelligence, introducing new models and an "agentic" approach designed to make AI more helpful and integrated across various products.
The event highlighted the release of two new models: Gemini Omni and Gemini 3.5 Flash. Gemini Omni is capable of creating content from any input, starting with video, and represents a major step forward in world understanding, multimodality, and editing, while Gemini 3.5 Flash combines frontier intelligence with the ability to take action.
Furthering this agent-first strategy, Google Antigravity, the company's development platform, has evolved beyond simple AI tools to enable agents that can perform actions, empowering users to become builders. This shift is unlocking agentic experiences across Google's ecosystem.
These new capabilities are being integrated into products such as Information agents in Search, Gemini Spark and Daily Brief within the Gemini app, and the launch of Universal Cart, an intelligent shopping system. Gemini is also expanding into Google Pics, intelligent eyewear, and Ask YouTube, creating new user experiences and adapting to diverse form factors.
Looking ahead, intelligent eyewear is set to launch this fall, offering features like directions, text messaging, and photo capture without needing a phone. Additionally, Google is expanding digital watermarking with SynthID and C2PA Content Credentials to help users identify AI-generated media, ensuring transparency in content creation.
