G. L. Mezzetta Inc. has announced a voluntary recall of a specific lot of Mezzetta Golden Greek Peperoncini (Medium Heat), 32-ounce, due to the presence of a pest contaminant in the jar, according to the US Food and Drug Administration.
The company said it became aware of a video circulating on social media showing a potential pest contaminant in a jar of the product. Mezzetta said it contacted the consumer and moved quickly to investigate the situation and initiate the voluntary recall.
"Firm updated the product information on September 26, 2026 in order to accurately reflect the recalled item," the FDA notice said.
Mezzetta said it has received no reports of illness or injury at this time. The company said families have trusted Mezzetta products on their tables for generations and that it takes that trust seriously, which is why it is sharing what it knows about the recall and the actions it is taking.
