A Pace, Florida man, Scott Robinson, 51, has been sentenced to 20 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to two counts of Drug Adulteration for illegally selling an adulterated animal drug online.
From 2022 to 2025, Robinson advertised and sold the animal drug toltrazuril to customers across the United States through his website. Under federal law, toltrazuril is deemed an adulterated new animal drug, subject to specific requirements for its production, labeling, and sale, which Robinson failed to meet.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) conducted multiple purchases from Robinson’s website, with the items confirmed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to contain toltrazuril. U.S. Attorney John P. Heekin for the Northern District of Florida said, “Complying with federal laws that are in place to ensure the safety of regulated medications is not optional.”
FBI Assistant Director in Charge James C. Barnacle, Jr. added, “This sentencing reflects the serious public safety risk created when someone knowingly distributes adulterated and unsafe animal medications.” The case was investigated by the FBI and FDA, and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Christopher C. Patterson and Ward Narramore.
