Voices for Vaccines is reporting that it is addressing several claims circulating about vaccines, including allegations that they are designed to cause harm for financial gain, that HPV vaccines negatively impact reproductive health and that vaccines can trigger the diseases they are intended to prevent.
It said HHS Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr. claims vaccines are intentionally made to harm people, allowing the medical industry to profit from treating subsequent illnesses. Voices for Vaccines noted Kennedy Jr.'s financial ties to vaccine-related lawsuits and the Children’s Health Defense organization. It said insurance companies typically profit when people are healthy and do not require expensive medical care, and that vaccines help prevent serious illnesses, hospitalizations and other costly health problems. The organization cited a study indicating that every dollar spent on childhood vaccines saves nearly $11 later. It said if vaccines caused more harm, insurance companies would incur greater costs and would likely not support vaccination or offer incentives.
The organization also addressed claims by chemical engineer Brian Hooker, who it said asserts the HPV vaccine causes five times more menstrual, ovarian and other reproductive health issues. Voices for Vaccines stated Hooker's analysis, reportedly based on Florida Medicaid records, does not appear to be clearly published or peer-reviewed. It said health insurance records can show patterns but do not prove causation. The organization noted large studies have found no evidence that HPV vaccines cause ovarian failure, with some research even suggesting a link to improved fertility for some women.
Additionally, Voices for Vaccines reported on claims from a writer known as “A Midwestern Doctor,” who it said suggests vaccines can cause the very diseases they are meant to prevent. It said vaccines do not cause the diseases they are designed to prevent, explaining that different vaccine types — including live attenuated, killed, or those using small pieces of a germ or mRNA — are engineered not to cause illness. The organization clarified that a weakened or killed germ cannot grow and spread to cause disease, and that the COVID mRNA vaccine teaches the body to recognize a spike protein, not the whole virus. It also distinguished between a vaccine causing a disease and a breakthrough infection, a coincidence or exposure to a different germ.
