Malik Williams, a previously convicted felon, has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm after allegedly shooting at Grand Prairie Police Department (GPPD) officers during a domestic violence investigation. U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Ryan Raybould announced the charges, stating, “We will always go after those who try to intimidate and harm our great law enforcement officers in North Texas.”

The complaint details that on May 2, 2026, GPPD officers responded to a child's report of a physical domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers encountered Williams in a silver Altima. After observing the mother with a blood-stained shirt, officers informed Williams he was not free to leave. Williams then sped off, leading officers on a pursuit that concluded when a GPPD officer executed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver to stop his vehicle.

As the officer exited his patrol vehicle, Williams reportedly fired an AR-15 rifle at him. A second officer returned fire, striking and injuring Williams, who subsequently surrendered and was taken to a hospital. Investigators later learned that Williams was on parole for six prior felonies, five of which involved domestic violence against the same victim in this current case.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Dallas Field Office, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and the Grand Prairie Police Department conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Walt Junker is prosecuting the case.
