Governor Mikie Sherrill signed a comprehensive package of legislation into law today, addressing state budget, taxation, education, and consumer protection, among other key areas.
Among the significant bills enacted is A-5327/S-2027, which appropriates over $60 billion in State funds and $30 billion in federal funds for the fiscal year 2027 State budget. Other financial measures include S-4538/A-5326, making a supplemental appropriation for FY2026, and A-5329/S-4531, increasing the child tax credit for taxable years 2026, 2027, and 2028.
The Governor also approved A-5328/SCS for S-2316 and 4109, which regulates data brokers and the collection and dissemination of certain sensitive information, enhancing data privacy for residents. Additionally, A-5325/S-4534 aims to reduce business formation fees, while A-5324/S-4533 establishes a fee on certain employers whose employees receive health benefits through the State Medicaid program.
Further legislation includes S-229/A-2135, requiring higher education institutions to report graduate employment data, and S-3306/A-4048, mandating notification to health club members about sales and contract assignments. These actions reflect a broad legislative agenda impacting various sectors across New Jersey.
