Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport (OAK) celebrated the return of Frontier Airlines on August 20, 2026, with the launch of new nonstop service to Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas (LAS). This re-establishes a popular travel option, enhancing connectivity between the Bay Area and a key leisure and entertainment destination.
Tyri Squyres, vice president of public and consumer affairs for Frontier Airlines, expressed enthusiasm, saying, "We couldn’t be more thrilled to be back at OAK, providing new affordable flight options to tourists visiting the Bay Area as well as locals traveling to Las Vegas and beyond." Kristi McKenney, Executive Director at the Port of Oakland, added, "Frontier’s return is another positive step forward in expanding the choices available to Bay area travelers."
The inaugural event saw local and regional leaders, including U.S. Representative Lateefah Simon and Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee, recognize the importance of expanded air service for Oakland travelers and the East Bay economy. Frontier, which previously operated at OAK until 2023, will now offer the Las Vegas route 11 times weekly.
The airline's renewed presence signifies confidence in the Oakland market and addresses growing demand for convenient, low-fare travel. Frontier is offering introductory fares as low as $29 for tickets purchased by August 27, 2026, for travel between September 9 and November 11, 2026. The airline also highlighted its young, fuel-efficient fleet and upcoming upgrades like First Class seats and Starlink high-speed connectivity; travelers can find booking and additional flight details on Frontier Airlines' website.
