Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jim Tressel announced a week of significant investments across the state, focusing on economic development, workforce training, infrastructure safety, and enhanced accessibility for residents.
Major economic announcements included Beehive Industries' $70 million expansion in Southwest Ohio, creating over 200 jobs in 3D-printed jet engine manufacturing, and Electra's selection of Springfield for an $850 million EL9 Ultra Short aircraft production facility, projected to generate 1,975 new jobs in Clark County. These initiatives, unveiled at the Farnborough International Airshow, position Ohio at the forefront of advanced aerospace manufacturing. Governor DeWine said, “Beehive Industries' decision to grow in Southwest Ohio demonstrates once again that our state is the best place in America to do business and the best place to strengthen our national defense.” He also noted Electra's decision would be "transformative for Clark County, demonstrating Ohio’s unique ability to lead America into aviation's next era.”
The administration further committed to workforce development by awarding $3.2 million in Career-Technical Education Access Grants to establish new manufacturing programs, creating approximately 300 new student seats statewide. Lt. Governor Tressel also celebrated the groundbreaking of the Youngstown Innovation Hub for Aerospace and Defense, a facility designed to accelerate growth in advanced manufacturing and prepare Ohioans for in-demand careers. Earlier in the week, Tressel emphasized that "Ohio students win when schools and businesses work together to prepare them for life after graduation."
In infrastructure and accessibility, Governor DeWine and Ohio Department of Transportation Director Pamela Boratyn announced $72 million for 33 roadway safety projects across 23 counties, funded by the Highway Safety Improvement Program. Governor DeWine said, "Every life lost on our roadways is one too many. By investing in proven safety countermeasures, we're making our transportation system safer for everyone." Additionally, the 2026 Ohio State Fair will feature expanded accessibility resources, ensuring all guests can enjoy the event, with Lt. Governor Tressel also announcing free fair admission for students completing the Team Tressel Fitness Challenge.
