Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has issued a statement addressing a "tragic situation" in Vinton County, expressing profound heartbreak over the living and medical conditions of children discovered there. Governor DeWine said he has been kept informed by Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson and has offered state assistance to Vinton County Sheriff Ryan Cain.

Kara Wente, Director of the Ohio Department of Children and Youth, is actively working to support Vinton County Children’s Services and will continue to provide help in the days ahead. Attorney General Wilson described the scene, saying he had "never seen anything like what he saw today."

Governor DeWine and Fran are praying for the children and extended gratitude to the children's services workers, law enforcement officers, and medical personnel involved in their care.
