The latest Joint USAF/NOAA Solar Geophysical Activity Report, issued on September 5, 2026, indicates moderate solar activity over the past 24 hours, with six sunspot regions currently visible. Solar activity is expected to remain low for the next three days, though there is a slight 20% chance of an M-class flare occurring daily.
Geophysical activity saw the geomagnetic field at quiet to unsettled levels. Solar wind speed peaked at 372 km/s, and protons greater than 10 MeV reached 17 pfu. Electrons greater than 2 MeV also peaked at 641 pfu during this period.
Looking ahead, the geomagnetic field is forecast to be quiet on September 6, then quiet to active on September 7, and quiet to unsettled on September 8. A high probability (99%) exists for protons to cross the threshold on September 6, with a slight chance (10%) on the subsequent two days.
