A Prewitt woman, Naomi Martinez, 24, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, has pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon after stabbing a man during a dispute. The announcement was made by First Assistant U.S. Attorney Ryan Ellison and Justin A. Garris, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Albuquerque Field Office.
According to court documents, on January 6, 2026, Martinez kicked and used a kitchen knife to stab John Doe in the face, head, and neck, causing serious bodily harm. Martinez now faces a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison at her sentencing.
The case was investigated by the Gallup Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Albuquerque Field Office, with assistance from the Navajo Nation Police Department and the Navajo Department of Criminal Investigations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Amy Mondragon is prosecuting the case.
