Travel app Hopper has agreed to pay $35 million and will be prohibited from deceiving consumers about fees, settling allegations by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The FTC claimed that Hopper unfairly charged consumers hidden fees and misrepresented the total prices consumers would pay for its services.
The settlement also addresses misrepresentations concerning the benefits of Hopper's VIP Support and Price Freeze services. The complaint alleged that Hopper made millions of dollars by flouting its "no hidden fees" promises, leading to the significant financial penalty and future operational restrictions.
This agreement aims to ensure that Hopper provides clear and accurate information to its users regarding all charges and the true value of its offerings, preventing similar deceptive practices in the future.
