The Heritage Foundation has announced the election of four new trustees to its Board, including Lawrence (Larry) Blanford, president and CEO of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters; internationally recognized author Yoram Hazony, Ph.D.; editor of The Federalist Mollie Hemingway; and J.C. Huizenga, chairman and founder of The Huizenga Group. Barb Van Andel-Gaby, chair of the Board of Trustees, said, “These new trustees bring the conviction, experience, and strategic vision necessary to help guide Heritage through one of the most consequential moments in modern American history.”

In other developments, Dr. Albert Mohler, president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, recently joined Heritage to discuss a notable increase in young men turning to religion. Referencing a Gallup poll, Mohler said, “Just in terms of those who say religion is very important to their lives, it was 29 percent for young women and 42 percent for young men. Something remarkable is happening there.”

Additionally, Dr. Kevin Roberts and Larry O’Connor addressed the global persecution of Christians and perceived media silence on “The Kevin Roberts Show.” Roberts said, “Too many people on the Left [think] that religion... needs to be minimized in the public square. Some on the Left, certainly not all... believe religion is a bad thing.”

Economically, EJ Antoni, senior economist at Heritage, highlighted that tariffs intended to protect U.S. manufacturers are instead increasing costs, disrupting supply chains, and disadvantaging American automakers. Separately, the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) efforts, announced in early 2025, have reportedly saved $215 billion by January 1, 2026, equating to approximately $1,335 per taxpayer, according to Senior Research Associate Nicole Huyer and YLP member Christopher Lynch.

The Heritage Foundation also announced upcoming events, including Dr. Paul Kengor’s third annual Lee Edwards Lecture on “Communism at America 250” on June 4. Applications for the Ready, Set, HILL! training program for conservatives seeking Capitol Hill employment are due June 7, with the program scheduled for June 11.
