The Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) and the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) are hosting a virtual Town Hall on August 13, 2026, to inform the public about significant upcoming H.R.1 Medicaid noncitizen changes.
These changes, which will affect noncitizen eligibility, are set to take effect on October 1, 2026. The virtual session will run from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. via Microsoft Teams, providing an overview of the new regulations, explaining what they mean for current Medicaid members, and directing attendees to additional resources. Medicaid members, their families, caregivers, and advocates are encouraged to attend and can submit questions in advance by emailing dmasinfo@dmas.virginia.gov.
Separately, Cardinal Care reminds members in the Northern Virginia region that Open Enrollment is currently underway and concludes on August 31. This period offers an opportunity for members to review their current health plans and select one that best fits their healthcare needs. A comparison chart is available to assist with this decision, and members are advised to confirm their chosen provider accepts the selected plan.
