Jumoke Ace Maceo Cryer, 38, was found guilty Thursday in U.S. District Court for his role in a methamphetamine and cocaine trafficking conspiracy, U.S. Attorney Daniel N. Rosen announced. Cryer was also convicted of possessing body armor as a prohibited person, making him the second defendant convicted in this ongoing conspiracy.
Court documents and trial evidence revealed Cryer conspired with others to distribute significant quantities of illegal narcotics. He was captured on video leaving a St. Paul drug stash house with 140 pounds of methamphetamine and cocaine. A subsequent search of his residence uncovered body armor, which he was legally barred from possessing due to a prior violent criminal history and a 2016 methamphetamine distribution conviction.
Cryer's conviction followed a three-day jury trial presided over by Judge Jeffrey M. Bryan. The case was the result of a collaborative investigation involving the St. Paul Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Raphael B. Coburn and Garrett S. Fields are prosecuting the case.
