The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) recently deported several illegal alien gang members, including individuals convicted of murder, sexual assault, kidnapping, and burglary.
DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin said these actions "make America safer," attributing the efforts to President Trump's leadership. He added that ICE has been "unleashed to arrest and remove illegal aliens from our communities," stating that "deporting illegal aliens saves lives."
Among those deported was Jonathan Moreno Hernandez, a South Sider gang member from Mexico, with convictions for voluntary manslaughter and attempted murder. He had been deported three times previously before illegally re-entering the United States. Harvey Elias Liberato, an Asian Boys gang member from the Philippines, was deported after convictions for voluntary manslaughter and aggravated assault with a gun.
German Oliverio Miranda-Tapia, a Paisas gang member from Mexico, was deported for a second time after convictions including third-degree sexual assault. Other deportations included Brandon Enrique Rodriguez-Ascencio, an MS-13 member convicted of criminal attempt to commit rape, and Cristian Bahena Estudillo, a Surenos member with convictions for kidnapping and weapon possession, who had also been previously deported. These actions underscore DHS's ongoing efforts to remove criminal illegal aliens.
