The Senator also addressed Meta's landmark $17.1 billion settlement with 47 states concerning social media addiction in children. Blackburn said this "massive settlement shows how terrified Meta and Mark Zuckerberg are of accountability in open court." She noted that while the settlement imposes safety measures for 10 years, her Kids Online Safety Act, which passed the Commerce Committee, would establish a uniform national standard requiring all platforms to ensure safety by design.
Furthermore, Senator Blackburn and colleagues reintroduced the Federal Insurance Office Abolishment Act, seeking to return insurance regulatory authority to the states and eliminate federal overreach. She also introduced bipartisan legislation to enhance U.S. capabilities against Communist China's "gray-zone" tactics and aggressive geopolitical interests in the Indo-Pacific.
